Who is Carol Schultz?

Hi readers.  Now that our blog is up and running I’d like to tell you a bit about me and the impetus behind Vertical Elevation.

I spent over 16 years in Executive Search learning what worked and didn’t work with regards to hiring and how a candidate searches for employment.  Looking back, it took me about 6 years to truly become a great recruiter and I continued to learn and improve upon my art over the subsequent years.  The common denominator I’ve experienced that has run rampant throughout recruiting and across all industries is that companies don’t know how to hire effectively.  Whether it’s a hiring manager who hires on “gut” feelings, “blind” references not being checked, an executive team out of alignment, or internal recruiters/HR who aren’t qualified and act as “agents” of management rather than “consultants” to management, the entire process is broken.  These examples are just a few of the many things that don’t work.  I’ve put a process together that fixes what’s broken in the hiring process so that companies can move past mediocrity

The second most common problem within search is that candidates don’t know how to make an effective job/career change.  I spent years learning and coming up with the best methodology that woks for candidates and that begins with a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) type of analysis.  If you aren’t clear about these things, and many of these traits live in your “blind spot”, the rest of the process won’t work for you.  I’ve developed a process that brings these common denominators to the forefront so that we have a roadmap to follow with regards to your personal search.
